Hello!!

So I know I've been majorly slacking in the update department, but a little nudge from Kat has finally convinced me to sit down and write a little update. I started writing and then couldn't stop, so I figured I'll put this behind an LJ cut so as not to take up your whole friends pages :)

Soooo things are really good!

First the job, there's good and bad....I really like working there, the people are super fun and unique! We're such a small office that I truly know everyone I work with (for better or for worse...i shall elaborate in a sec), and I feel like I really have a voice in what happens. My managers are frickin awesome! Like seriously...I don't think it's possible to have better bosses. Their office is a total open door policy, and if you ever need to talk they are so welcoming and unintimidating. Now...being in such a small office also has its drawbacks as well. We work with mostly women, and we ALL know that women are CRAZY!

First, two girls in the office liked Devin before I started working there. Yeah, so they don't like me very much. One Devin doesn't like, which is fine cause she sucks, but Devin is friends with the other one...which causes some friction. I just don't like her, period....it's not a jealousy thing, like, i'm not concerned with Devin's loyalty or anything like that, but I can just see it in her eyes that she's not over him...its super frustrating and can make work super difficult sometimes...*sigh* I mean Devin is totally worth it, but if you can avoid working with your significant other I would highly recommend it.....

Any waysI also really like what I'm doing. Our business is booming...the recession is not affecting us at all! Super amazing for the state of our country still....it feels amazing to be able to live comfortably again...those three months of being laid off we're probably three of the hardest months ever...I'm just so grateful for the position I'm in. I've FINALLY starting being able to save again for a car!! Yay!! That is super exciting!

So moving on...things with devin are pretty frickin amazing...like amazeballs amazing! It's so nice having someone who's so considerate and so loving. When we have arguements or "fights" they never last long...we always talk about it and move on......*sigh* soooooooooo amazing. We've pretty much been spending all our time together, which is also interesting. I was worried about that initially when we got together, because I don't have any other friends or people to hang out with outside of him. He's seriously become my best friend here, and I'm getting to know his friends, who are amazing by the way. Seriously...like all of his good friends are SO cool. I love hanging out with them. devin is also in 4 bands...yes 4! They're all punk bands....SO i've slowly been getting into that scene...haha it's definitely interesting. All the bands are his friends from high school...he plays guitar in one, bass in two and vocals and guitar in another. He's ridiculously talented!! I do enjoy watching it a lot more than I thought i would. The crowd is just going crazy, and jumping around. I usually stand behind the drum set, so I don't get trampled :)

Dev is also super into soccer! We went to 4 LA Galaxy games in the past 3 months! It's super cool getting to see Beckham so close :)...and I don't know if you've ever been to a soccer game, but they're SUPER fun with the chants and songs and jumping around. Soccer players also seem a lot more appreciative of their fans...whenever they score they always run over to the supporter section everyone celebrates together. Super cool!

In LA news...the weather is still amazing. We had a little spout of fires which caused the air to get super dry and smoggy. I got this dry cough which would NOT go away. The day I got my health insurance benefits through work, I went to the doctor and found out I had asthmatic bronchitis! Welcome to LA :) I got some steroids and an inhaler and POOF it was gone...which was nice...but OMG the steroids gave me Roid Rage like crazy! It was not fun for anyone involved....

Hmmm so I think that's all for now! I'll try and update more often! I know you guys are so far away and I want to keep you informed! Heading to Boston for Thanksgiving and my cousin's bat mitzvah.....THEN i'll be in MD 12/25-12/31 (ha! the two cheapest days to fly!) so if you guys are around I would love to see you!!!

<endljcut></endljcut>

I went to the cooooolest place last night!

It's called The Edison and way back in the day it was LA's first power plant, but now its this awesom 1920s style bar in Downtown. All the staff is super dressed up and in 20s-ish style clothing and they have black and white silent films being projected on the walls. It has this very underground, almost haunted kind of feel to it. Wednesday nights are their "French Circus" themed night, so every 15 min or so they had these circus performers dressed in Moulin Rouge-ish costumes doing all kinds of cool stuff. Then when they weren't performing they were just walking through the crowd messing with people. It was such a mind trip, seriously I don't think I'm even doing it justice. Once my roommate posts the pics I will def be posting them here!

It was just one of those crazy over the top places you can only find in a place like LA. It was also not cheap...$8 valet, $10 cover and the drinks were like $14 each (but we thankfully weren't drinking).

SO that's all for now, just had to share! and I can't wait for you guys to see the pics!
Have a happy 4th everybody!! :)

She cooked dinner and she has lit candles on the dining table.. but she hasn't said anything like oh dave is coming over later, do you mind if we hang out in the living room?
I'm currently watching so you think you can dance which ends at 10. It's very obvious that cassis did not think I would be sitting out here. Do I voluntarily go to my room when he gets here or do I stay and finish my show because I didn't get prior knowledge.. I mean I will prob go to my room cause that's mad awkward but I just feel like she could have said something especially because I'm the only one without a tv in my room so chances are I will be in the living room.
Guh

Just needed to vent a little...they better not be loud!
Seriously..has anyone out there had TheraFlu??
I have a wicked cold right now, so I went and got some TheraFlu! It comes in pills and liquid, but I enjoy the packets that you mix with hot water and drink like tea! Anyways when I got sick last Fall I bought the Flu and Sore throat one, Apple Cinnamon flavor! Now that I have a cold, I wanted one that helped with runny noses so I got the Cold and Cough one. When I picked it up I noticed it was Lemon flavor and I was a little skeptical...growing up the lemon Tylenol cough syrup was sooooo horrible and traumizting everytime I had to take it...anyways so I get home and make my hot TheraFlu drink...and let me tell you...SO GOOD! It was like a hot, liquified lemon jolly ranger! I had one at 4 and then couldn't wait until 8 so I could take it again! I'm now 80% less runny nose then I was this morning...YAY!

I'm in that weird period between sick and being better..where your brain is alert and ready to be healthy again, but the body is still not 100%..so I feel like I have so much energy and I want to do stuff, but then I get up and I want to sit right back down again...atleast I have tomorrow to hang and get better! Yay holidays! and yay working so I can appreciate holidays!

Oh! also a new love of mine are the Naked fruit smoothies! SO good! I had the Green Machine one today...it has bananas, apples, kiwi, spinach, garlic, wheat grass, broccoli and tons of other healthy stuff and it tastes so yummy! I could taste a slight after taste of the garlic, but oddly it didn't bother me....those Naked people are geniuses I tell you! 100% juice!! I love on the back where they tell how you much fruit it is...like 2 1/2 apples, 1/2 a banana....Geniuses!

Work is going great! Everyone in the office is really nice..like really REALLY nice. crazy...I'm so lucky! Everything happens for a reason! I was meant to have this job I know it! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

I get to have more TheraFlu in 2 hours!! If I'm even still awake...ha!

I watched Grease 2 on Hulu last night...sooo funny...I want a coooooooool rider, a coo ooo ooo ooool rider! If he's cool enough he can burn me through and through, woooah! Maybe I'll find something else on there to fall asleep to tonight!

TheraFlu and Carly thank you for your time.

Happy Tuesday all!

So...I didn't get the kid's theater job...they went with someone who had marketing and promotions experience. oh well. moving on...

I had two interviews today!
One was my second interview with the doggy place! Even though the job would just be part-time, it really intrigues me! The company is super super new. They're one year anniversary is in two weeks. Any position they hire now would be wearing many hats (sales, admin stuff, customer service) and there is a ton of room for growth. So yes that interview went well I think! Yay!

The second was another very "Carly" job I found. I would be a customer service rep for a company who provides communication/technology devices to deaf and hard of hearing customers. I would get to use my ASL skills! This job is full time and offers super benefits! ..... Woot! The lady just called as I was writing this and asked me to go in tomorrow for a second interview! Yay!

At the end of the interview lady asked me a rather interesting question. The question was "If you could be any sandwich, which would you be?" I had to think about it for a second, but the other day I had a turkey, pesto and cranberry sandwich at starbucks which was super good so I said I would be that. I said the fruit gives the sandwich zesty sweetness and that I thought thats how I was. Haha...so I'm curious. What would you guys have said???

As we start the first full week of May, I have a positive attitude. There are two super exciting prospects lined up for this week, and if either one of them follows through it would be perfection for me.

First: On Tuesday I have an interview with Healthy Spot in Santa Monica right by the ocean. It's a healthy, organic dog spa/daycare/adoption center/food retail store that two guys started a couple years ago. How fun does that sound??

Second: Last Friday, I applied for a job at a kids theater company called Kids on Stage. The woman called me back saying they were interested, but I was out doing errands so I missed her, but she said to call back Monday morning so hopefully I will get an interview with them too. It's also in Santa Monica, right by the ocean, and they have summer camps, performances, classes and birthday parties. I would be an admin assistant for them, but I might get to sometimes help out with classes and watching the kids. How fun does that sound??

See! Two very "Carly" jobs! Fingers crossed kiddos! I WILL be employed before May is over. Mark my words.
Other wise bad things will happen, and we don't like bad things....

So, today I had an interview/appt at a staffing agency out here! They staff only the real hoity toity corporate companies, so that could be interesting. I think it went well...took all the fun Microsoft Office tests and WPM test. There's one job in particular that my coordinator is sending my resume to, a receptionist for this insurance company for the rich and famous. The dude who owns it used to be a big time sports agent, so now he sells insurance to all his friends..ha. But when I was leaving she said "We will definitely find you something!" Who knows if she was being sincere, but atleast I'm in their system now and they are (should be) looking for jobs for me! Yay! The only bad part...I have to go shopping. That shouldn't be a bad thing, going shopping for "corporate appropriate" clothing could be super fun and sophisticated...but my finances are not the best right now. I shall use my trust credit card and pray that I get hired before May 1st! I'm not gonna go crazy or anything....two blouses and one pair of pants...maybe a blazer if I find one at a super price...that should totally get me through until I start getting a couple paychecks...?? guh, I also hate shopping alone...I asked my roommate if she wanted to go with me, but she declined...I might call Ari, but boys are no fun to shop with.

Blah, oh and LA took some crazy pills are something this week....Sunday, Monday and Tuesday it was almost 100 degrees with sunny blue skies, and today is not even a high of 70 and gray skies...such a huge difference in a matter of days

Oh! and as I was listening to my Jason Mraz station on Pandora, I came across this awesome song...its been used in so many movie soundtracks, and is just the perfect chill song. Enjoy!
<lj-embed id="2" />

Another life update from the west!

So to add to all the other stress in my life, Cassie and I stopped getting along with our third roomie. It was so awkward in the apt..i guess with three girls we always felt like we had to include her in our plans, even if we didn't want to. Then none of Cassie's friends liked her very much...anyways, after much deliberation between me and Cassie we decided to put an ad on craigslist...just to see what was out there. Well, our roommate was obviously feeling the tension, so she decided to go to craigslist too....where she found our ad. Oy. Then the shit hit the fan. Drama drama drama...she agrees to leave by the end of April. So we are getting a NEW roomie...this time we're going with a boy! **Cue the Three's Company theme song** He's a nice jewish boy from the OC...kinda reminds me of guys I went to high school with. He seems really nice and chill, and we're hoping he will be a much better fit for the apt!

In less dramatic news! Passover started wednesday night! yay! ok now i know this isn't the funnest of the holidays with the whole no bread thing, but I'm just super excited that I finally get to celebrate this one! During the high holidays I had Macy's training (guh), and during Hanukkah I was working and alone. So yay for being a good jew again! I don't remember if I went into huge detail about my neighborhood, but it's totally filled with Jewish Orthodox families, Orthodox private schools, synagogues, Kosher bakeries, Kosher markets, Kosher Subway (!!!), Kosher chinese, kosher sushi, kosher burger and kosher fine dining restaurants. Everytime I walk down the street, I feel like I'm leaving LA and going to JewLand. I was walking on Wednesday afternoon, and the energy on the street was so cool! All the kosher establishments were closing for the week, while a few had their "Open for Passover" signs displayed. The Kosher Subway is totally open this weekend! A sub during passover?? I'm so curious! It's prob gonna be on that gross matzoh bread, but it's still pretty cool to be able to go buy a sandwich during passover....i'm excited. I love being in such a Jew-y neighborhood...especially since my family is so far away, it makes me feel like i'm celebrating with people, not just by my lonesome. :)

Some pictures of the neighbs and my apt!....Please don't judge the all the white walls in my room...I will decorate eventually, I promise!

So it's been a little while...

I've come to a few epiphany's in the last few weeks:

1) Finding a job is possibly one of the hardest things to do in life...seriously.

2) The sun is incredibly addictive. Out here you get so used to weeks and weeks of sunshine, that when it's not it really messes with your head. Its gross (not really), and cold (61 degrees) and cloudy (slight overcast) outside and I just want to stay in bed all day. I want blue skies damn it!

3) Valley girls are not much different than MoCo girls....I went bowling in the valley with Cassie and a few friends who live down there. A few girls I looked at and I realized that I totally would have been friends with them in middle school and high school. People always have such a bad connotation with "Valley" and now I understand the same dislike for "MoCo". Quite disconcerting.

I guess that's all for now
